Most people are aware that creatine is used by bodybuilders to help them to build muscle and give them energy, but creatine does much more than this. This very short video from Mymediclique explains the role creatine plays in inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
The video explains that the cells in the intestine also need creatine for energy and that a mutated gene in IBD patients may mean that not enough creatine is made naturally in the body to feed the intestinal cells adequately. This causes a breakdown of the lining of the intestines leading to bacterial infection and painful inflammation.
