Video Guide to Creating a Chronic Illness Survival Pack

This video from The Mighty shares some of the things a person living with a chronic illness might want to carry around with them on a daily basis. Living with medical conditions means that symptoms can strike unexpectedly, often when you’re out and about, so having a survival pack can come in handy. This is especially true for those with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

The video’s survival pack contains a bottle of water, daily and emergency medications, a sweater, personal hygiene products, music, insurance card, emergency telephone numbers, a snack for keeping blood sugar levels up and mints to help tame nausea or acid reflux. Survival packs are a good idea for all medical conditions — not just Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis. However, each disease has different symptoms that may arise while out running errands, so medical survival packs should be created to match the needs surrounding each and every medical condition.
