Cherylann explains that anyone who suffers from Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis is likely to experience some emotional ups and downs. She talks about how she went from someone who was fairly even-tempered to someone who suddenly had wild mood swings, snapping at people one minute and then crying uncontrollably the next.
Depression and anxiety are common in people who suffer from IBD, but you don’t have to put up with them as part of the disease. Cherylann comes up with some practical advice for anyone who is suffering from depression including enlisting the support of your friends and family, finding ways to reduce or avoid stress, exercising, reaching out to others who are going through the same things as you, and seeking advice from your health care team.
