In this video shared in July 2015, YouTube vlogger Abby Gladin shares her journey with inflammatory bowel disease. Diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at seven years old, Abby was able to control her condition with medication until she started to become really sick at the age of 11.

After various surgeries, doctors decided it would be better for her if she had part of her colon removed and wore a colostomy bag. However, even with the colostomy bag, Abby needed more surgeries and still has Crohn’s flares. In the video, 17-year-old Abby explains that she is now waiting for another surgery to remove even more of her colon, and how she hopes by sharing her experience it will help other young people who are going through the same thing.
