Cherylann first knew something was amiss when she discovered blood in her stools and went to see her doctor for tests. While waiting for the results she began to suffer from joint pain, fever, and sickness, and she decided to go to the emergency room.

After a couple of days in the hospital, Cherylann had a colonoscopy and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. She then began months of trial and error to find out which medications worked best for her.
