Uveitis, an inflammation of the middle eye, is associated with inflammatory bowel disease.  If left untreated it can lead to blindness. A more common eye complaint for IBD patients is episcleritis, which causes redness of the whites of the eyes and pain. Both complaints can be cleared up with steroid eye drops.
